Getting Paid

This is always a tough topic to bring up. It’s always the elephant in the room when talking to a client. I think it’s best to get it out the way first as that wat you and the client know where you stand, there’s no hidden costs and they know exactly what they are paying for.

As a student it’s always good to get little side jobs that are out with the course. We are always in need of a little extra cash. I recently did a job for a friend of my dads. He was starting out his own business as a joiner. He came to me because he knows what it is like to be a small business, looking to make your mark. I was very lucky that from the start he told me to be upfront and that he would give me whatever I needed. I know it won’t always be this easy and that people will underestimate the time and skill it takes to create a brand and design a logo.

To top things off when I finished the project for my dads friend, he insisted on putting my logo on his van so that if anyone he knew asked or saw the design on his van, they could see that it was designed by me. I really appreciated the gesture and it gets me out there as a brand and will hopefully get me some work/small jobs in the future.
