Some of my favourite logos and why

There are so many logos out there today, so many noticeable ones and some with little hidden things that I think are total genius from the designs and once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

The first logo that got me was the FedEx logo. I never noticed it until it got pointed out to me by a friend in college that it has a little hidden arrow between the ‘E’ and the ‘x’. Now that this has been brought to my attention, I can’t look at the logo without seeing the little arrow! From a design point of view, it is a great use of negative space and hats off to the designers on that one!

The next one is the Toblerone logo. The bear in the toblerone logo. Again, a very clever thing for the designers to do! I mean everyone knows about Toblerone, they might not know where it is made but they know about toblerone. It was made in Bern. The flag for Bern has a bear in it and to give the origin country a little nod like that, is very clever. And just like the FedEx logo, it’s a good use of negative space.

Amazon are another company that have a great logo. The little arrow going from A-Z obviously reflects the fact that they are a shopping index with literally anything you want ‘from A-Z’. I think it is quite fun aswell because it looks a bit like a smiley face.

Beats by Dr Dre is another one with such a cool logo. The ‘b’ in the logo represents the headphones—their main product. I think it is so simple but so effective.

The Bronx Zoo has another intriguing logo. New York is well known for it’s tall buildings and skyscrapers, so what better way to acknowledge this in the logo. If you look at the giraffes legs, the negative space creates the shapes of some of the buildings.
Another few to look up yourself are, the Tour de France logo, Guild of Food Writers logo, Formula 1, London Symphony orchestra logo, Sony Ericsson, Baskin Robbins, Cisco and Toyota. You’ll never look at them the same way again.
